Alright, so get this – a 21-year-old dude got slapped with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life for setting fires at two places and a car connected to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. Roman Lavrynovych, a 21-year-old Ukrainian from Sydenham in southeast London, is set to show up at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The cops from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command took the lead on this investigation because of the PM link. The first fire went down in the wee hours of Monday at Sir Keir’s old stomping grounds in Kentish Town, where he used to kick it with his fam before becoming the big cheese. Luckily, no one got hurt, but the entrance of the pad took a beating.
Fast forward to Thursday, and a car on the same street went up in flames. Then, there was another fire at the front of a house turned into flats in Islington on Sunday, also linked to the prime minister. The London Fire Brigade had to get someone out of there through an internal staircase.
The head of the Crown Prosecution Service counter terrorism division, Bethan David, spilled the tea, saying: “These charges are about two fires at homes in Islington on Sunday, May 11, and in Kentish Town on Monday, May 12, plus a car fire in Kentish Town on Thursday, May 8. The defendant has the right to a fair trial, so let’s keep it real.” Now, we’re keeping an eye out for more details, so stay tuned for the full scoop.
