A man got arrested on suspicion of murder after a mother and her three children unfortunately died in a terrible house fire in Brent, northwest London. The Metropolitan Police officers are currently investigating the incident after receiving a call to assist firefighters in Stonebridge, near Wembley, just after 1.20 am. The victims were identified as a 43-year-old woman and her three children – a 15-year-old girl, an eight-year-old boy, and a four-year-old boy. Their next-of-kin have already been notified.

Police are waiting for updates on the conditions of two other individuals who were taken to the hospital following the fire. A 41-year-old man was apprehended at the scene and is currently being held in custody. Witnesses in the area expressed shock and sadness over the tragic event, emphasizing the strong sense of community and care among neighbors. Mohamed Labidi, 38, mentioned, “They’re very good people, no problems on their side at all. It’s really shocking. It’s a really strong community here, we look after each other.”

The fire, which required the response of eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters, caused severe damage to two terrace houses in the area. Despite efforts to rescue the victims, including the woman and one of the children who were found on the second floor, they were unfortunately declared dead at the scene. London Fire Brigade Assistant Commissioner Keeley Foster described the incident as extremely tragic, expressing condolences to those affected by the fire. The London Ambulance Service deployed several units to the scene, including an air ambulance, incident response officers, and advanced paramedics.
