So like, this one time, there was this woman, Nerys Bethan Lloyd, who got like 10 years and six months in jail ’cause four paddleboarders died because of her, in West Wales. So, like, this Paul O’Dwyer dude, Andrea Powell, Morgan Rogers, and Nicola Wheatley died on October 30, 2021, ’cause they couldn’t handle the River Cleddau in Pembrokeshire.
Yeah, so they were doing this stand-up paddleboarding thing and it was all like super dangerous. O’Dwyer tried to save the others but, like, it didn’t work out. Powell even died in the hospital six days later, so sad.
Lloyd, who owned the Salty Dog Co Ltd, got in trouble ’cause of what happened. The judge was all saying she didn’t care about safety and stuff, and the weather was bad back then. They said the video of the whole thing was too much to watch.
So, this Watson dude said O’Dwyer was also to blame, but Lloyd was like the main one responsible. The weir was apparently super dangerous, and nobody knew it was gonna be that bad. They didn’t have the right qualifications and stuff.
In the end, Lloyd was like, “Yeah, my bad, I shouldn’t have done this.” She was all emotional and stuff, but the judge had to give her time. The families were all upset, and it was a really sad situation.
