Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has provided some positive injury updates on two key players, Destiny Udogie and Richarlison. Udogie is now back training with the squad, while Richarlison is on the verge of returning to action.
Postecoglou had been missing several key players during pre-season, but the last of the internationals have now returned to training. Rodrigo Bentancur, Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero, and Micky van de Ven joined the squad on Tuesday as they prepare for the new Premier League season, which is just around the corner.
Both Udogie and Richarlison had been sidelined with injuries picked up towards the end of the previous campaign. However, Postecoglou has confirmed that Udogie is now fit and training with the team, while Richarlison is expected to join the group in training this week ahead of the final pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich.
Postecoglou mentioned, “We’ve still got two weeks until the first game of the season. We’ll get some players back this week – obviously, the internationals will be back, Destiny (Udogie) is back training with us. Richarlison should be back in the week – so we’ll get some of our top-end players back into the group which I think will help. Once we get back, we’ve got 10 to 12 days before our first game and we’ll make sure we are ready.”
With both Udogie and Richarlison coming back from injuries, it may take them some time to reach peak fitness and get fully up to speed. It wouldn’t be surprising if neither player starts in Spurs’ Premier League opener against Leicester City.
