The 19-year-old was shot in the back following a confrontation between his friends and another group of up to three males on Sunday 23 June.

His mother Carolyn, in a heart-wrenching appeal coinciding with Ellis’ 20th birthday, reminisced about her beloved son. “He was so kind, so laid back, so calm, so mature for his age. And he was just funny. Very funny,” she said, her voice tinged with sorrow. “He was my baby… no mum should have to bury a child. He was my life. And I don’t know what to do without him.”
Meanwhile, Ellis’ aunt Julie O’Toole described him as a remarkable person, stating, “He was loyal, fiercely loyal… everything was about his family.” The family’s grief and loss are palpable as they continue to seek answers and closure.
