Police be like all up in HMP Belmarsh, investigating some alleged attack on a prison officer by Southport triple killer Axel Rudakubana on Thursday. So, Rudakubana was just chilling in his cell, right? Then he apparently decided to heat up some water using a kettle in the room, according to Sky News. Next thing you know, he chucks the boiling water at the officer, who was just minding their business outside the cell, through some hatch in the door. Ouch.
The poor prison staff member had to go to the hospital just to be safe, but luckily they only got minor injuries. Rudakubana is already locked up for life for murdering Alice da Silva Aguiar, Bebe King, and Elsie Dot Stancombe at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport. What a wild story, right? The officer got out of the hospital the same day and is supposed to go back to work at the prison in southeast London next week.
So, apparently, these cell door hatches are used to pass meds to prisoners and most of them have kettles in their cells. Who knew, right? According to Sky News, Rudakubana was hanging out in the healthcare unit in near-isolation when this all went down. A Prison Service spokesperson was like, “Yo, the police are checking out this attack on a prison officer at HMP Belmarsh yesterday. We don’t play around with violence in prison, and we’re gonna make sure whoever did this gets the harshest punishment possible.”
Wait, like, hold up. This isn’t the first time some crazy stuff went down in a prison, ya know? Just a few weeks back, Hashem Abedi, the brother of the Manchester Arena bomber, supposedly went off on three prison officers at HMP Frankland in County Durham. He straight up attacked them with cooking oil and then stabbed them with some makeshift weapon. Talk about intense, right?
After that whole mess, Abedi got sent back to HMP Belmarsh, where he already got caught attacking a prison officer in 2020 along with two other terrorists. In 2020, he got slapped with a minimum of 55 years in prison for helping his bro plan that suicide bomb attack in 2017. Crazy stuff, man.
So, like, prison life can get pretty rough sometimes, huh? Stay safe out there, folks. No telling what might go down next behind those bars.
