Arthur Massey, one of the stars of the third season of Disney’s hit documentary “Welcome to Wrexham,” has passed away at the age of 100. Known as Wrexham’s oldest fan, Arthur was presented with a Wrexham shirt bearing the number 100 to celebrate his centenary in March. His daughter, Julie, shared the sad news on social media, posting a photo of her father with the caption “14/3/24 – 8/8/24. RIP Dad.”

In the episode titled ‘Temporary,’ Arthur had a significant role where owner Rob McElhenney visited him at home for his 100th birthday celebration. One of Arthur’s memorable lines from the show was: “Everything is temporary. No joy lasts forever. No pain lasts forever, either. That’s life. You have to accept what it is, not what you want it to be.”

Wrexham AFC paid tribute to Arthur on social media, expressing their deep sadness at the loss of their life-long supporter. The post read: “Everybody at Wrexham AFC is extremely saddened to learn of the passing of life-long supporter Arthur Massey, aged 100. All our thoughts are with Arthur’s family and friends at this time. Forever a Wrexham supporter.”

During a visit to Wrexham in December 2022, Arthur had the opportunity to meet King Charles III, which was captured on the show. Bryan Swarberg, the producer of the documentary, offered his condolences, describing Arthur as a great man who lived a life well.

Arthur’s dedication to Wrexham extended beyond being a fan; he was actively involved in volunteer work with the Royal British Legion’s poppy appeal and had a brave past as a Second World War veteran who served in the Burma Campaign as a sapper.

As Wrexham fans gear up for the League One campaign, the team will kick off the season against Wycombe Wanderers at home at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday, August 10. The legacy of Arthur Massey, Wrexham’s oldest fan, will surely live on in the hearts of the club’s supporters and the community as a whole.
