A small boat carrying six people on the River Thames in Surrey capsized, with one person still missing. The incident took place at Sunbury Lock near Wheatleys Eyot around 8:50 am on Friday. Surrey Police’s Elmbridge Beat, along with South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAMB) and Surrey Fire and Rescue, responded to the scene.
Rescuers are currently searching for the missing person and have advised the public to avoid the area. Three of the five individuals rescued from the river were taken to the hospital for further checks, according to a SECAMB spokesperson.
